| Vacation home in South-Western France | |||||||||||||||||||
| La Citadelle is our holiday
home in the Dordogne, in France. We chose the region for its warm climate
for six months of the year. La Citadelle has three houses, a lake for
swimming, fishing and boating, and it has 25 acres of woods. The woods are
the home of wild boar and deer. We intend to retire to La Citadelle in a
few years. This region of France is especially friendly to foreigners, and
we have many neighbours from various European countries. We only let the
main farmhouse, which sleeps 8+.
| The Dordogne | |||||||||||||||||||
| The Dordogne is both one of
France's great rivers, rising in the east and flowing west into the
Altlantic near Bordeaux, and it is the name of the administrative
department. The country either side of the River Dordogne is called the
Perigord, and is part of the ancient kingdom of Aquitaine in south-west
France, which was ruled by England for about 300 years, until the English
were finally beaten in the Hundred Years War. There are no big cities in
this region, but we are only 45 minutes from the city of Bordeaux, with
its international airport.
| About our site | |||||||||||||||||||
| We have built a Web site
which shares our experience of house-hunting and buying in a foreign
country, where we don't speak the language very well. We hope that this
will be a source of help and inspiration for others, and we can link with
other similar sites. The links below are to our main site, with a vast
store of photos, information, and news about La Citadelle, full details
for renting, and our pictorial database of the whole region.
